The Symbolic Rizal Park
History is a part of everyone’s life. Here in the Philippines, people value events and people who somehow contributed to the kind of life that they have now. I’m talking about unforgettable times such as our National hero’s urge of giving democracy to our country.
Jose Rizal has made a big part in every Filipino’s life. And because of that, he gained not only a title of being the national hero but he one of the best parks in the Philippines is named after him in honor of his death in this particular place.
Since the time I was born, I always knew this Rizal Park, also known as Luneta. I remember how we enjoyed the entire place when I we had a school field trip back when I was in my kindergarten. Rizal is indeed very famous to all generations. This Rizal Park simply represents everything that he did for the salvation of the country from Spaniards.
There are statues which tell stories; pictures and complete set of historical readings for everyone’s awareness of the country’s memorable history. There are also places in the area where families, friends and lovers can comfortably stay during past times or if they want to spend the day with people special to them.

After several years, I went back to Rizal Park and saw how beautifully it has improved. Of course, the statue of our national hero remains at the center of the park. I still enjoyed the place while I also had the chance to meet friends and people who happen to be foreigners. Yes, there are people from different nations who intentionally go to this park just to have a glimpse of the national hero who also became a part of their history.

Assuredly, no matter how many times I come back to Rizal Park, I will always still find happiness in my heart and a sense of pride for having freedom from the advocacy of the person standing in this park.
